Whip cracker and entertainer Chris Camp of Illinois set a new Guinness
World Record on April 29 by cracking a 6-foot bullwhip 222 times in 60
seconds.
Camp's attempt was broadcast on WMAY's Mike Wilson Show, and was
witnessed by radio personalities Johnny Molson, Andy Lee, Jim Leach,
Mike Wilson, and the WCFN Channel 19 news crew. Camp used a bullwhip
made by whip maker Joe Strain.
The previous record of 214 cracks in one minute was set by Robert
Dante of Minneapolis last September at the Spirit of the West Festival
in Sioux Falls, SD.
No stranger to competition, Camp recently won the title of world
champion in the "two-whip style and technique" competition at the 16th
Annual Wild West Arts Club International Convention in Claremore,
Oklahoma. Last year, the WWAC named Camp its "Best New Whip Cracker."
Camp presents bullwhip shows at fairs, festivals, schools, libraries,
family and corporate events.
